Application of Polyurethane in Fire Hose Lines

Fire hoses are flexible tubes used to convey high-pressure water or flame-retardant liquids such as foam. They typically consist of a tubular fabric layer woven from warp and weft threads, combined with an inner lining (or cover) through steam vulcanization or adhesive bonding. Traditional fire hoses feature a rubber lining and are externally wrapped with a linen braid. More advanced fire hoses, on the other hand, are made from polymeric materials such as polyurethane. Both ends of a fire hose are equipped with metal fittings that allow it to be connected to another hose for extending its length or to a nozzle for increasing the pressure of the liquid spray.

Fire hose structure

Due to the wide variety of fire hoses available, their structures also come in many different types. However, all basic structures consist of five main components: a fabric layer, a lining, a coating, a cover layer, and an adhesive layer.

Polyurethane application in fire hoses

·Lining: The lining is a smooth, waterproof layer with a certain degree of strength located on the inner surface of the fabric layer, ensuring the smooth flow of water or other liquids. Commonly used materials include rubber, PVC, and TPU.

·Domestic fire hose manufacturers generally use polyether-based TPU to produce high-quality TPU fire hoses.
